Mine has involved - 6 years of medical school, 1 year as a hospital Intern, 1 year as a hospital Resident, 4 years as a Registrar in General Surgery and 5 years of training as a Registrar in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1.5 years as a Fellow in Plastic Surgery based in the USA, 20 years working as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon in private practice and at Perth’s teaching hospitals. This has included teaching other surgeons about anatomy and plastic surgery and checking on standards of quality in hospitals and the ability of overseas surgeons applying to work in Australia.

Make sure you know how to find an experienced surgeon who has done thousands of operations.

Look for the six

✅ FRACS after name
✅ Surgery performed in an accredited hospital or day surgery centre
✅ Qualified anaesthetist
✅ Surgery performed on a regular basis
