​Dr Lewis Blennerhassett is a highly qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon with extensive surgical education and training in Australia and the USA. He has 25 years of experience operating, treating and caring for patients at major Perth hospitals, both public and private.

"I don’t keep count, but I’ve done over 20 thousand operations over the past 25 years since first picking up a scalpel. The shortest operation was only a few minutes and the longest was 36 hours. The youngest patient I have operated on was only a few hours old and the oldest was 97 years-old. My weekly theatre lists include cosmetic and breast surgery cases, as well as hand surgery and cancer surgery. When away from work, Dr Blennerhassett's spare time is spent with his family, enjoying the ocean and WA’s beautiful coastline. He is a keen swimmer and surfer.

Dr Lewis Blennerhassett’s Qualifications & Training

Born and educated in Western Australia, his medical degree was from the University of WA and his advanced training in plastic and reconstructive surgery was with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. To achieve his fellowship with this College, he did four years of general surgery plus four years of advanced training in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Following this, specialist training was undertaken in Boston USA in 1999-2000, where he completed a postgraduate surgical fellowship administered through Harvard Medical School. He was winner of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons’ travelling fellowship award in 1999. 

His extensive private practice is based in Subiaco, ensuring he is close by to the hospitals where his patients undergo surgery and aftercare.

  • Chairman of the Board for the International Medical Graduates – assessing foreign trained plastic surgeons and their eligibility to practice in Australia.
  • President of the Western Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons.
  • Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Princess Margaret Hospital, and is also involved in training medical students, junior doctors and young-surgeons-in-training
